what is the diffrence between console and auxiliary port ?

I recall (?) console is wired as a DCE port and aux port is wired as a DTE port.

Further, the system sends output to the console port. The aux port is a serial port available for general use.

You can connect to either Console/Auxiliary ports of a router and allow direct access from a PC or remote access via terminal server.

 

In addition the auxiliary port allows the attachment of a modem which allows remote access via a PSTN connection
