HI All,

Can you please advice me on below?

We have a WS-C3850-24XS switch which comes with 24 10G optical ports. As we needed GIG copper ports, have ordered extra Network Module C3850-NM-8-10G which supports either 8 GIG ports or 8 10G ports. Initially, we thought we can use it as copper GIG ports without any additional SFP's, we came to know we would need GIG copper SFP's to convert them into GIG copper ports.

Can you please advice the best GIG copper SFP which supports and fits into C3850-NM-8-10G module?

Thanks in advance,

Sheshu.

According to the Data sheet HERE, the WS-C3850-24XS switch comes with 24 1Gb OR 10Gb ports, see here:

WS-C3850-24XS

24 1/10G SFP+

715 WA

As far as I can see, you can use the 1000BASE-T SFP for a Copper connection and don't need to purchase an additional module.

The data sheet shows the supported SFP's and the 1000BASE-T is listed:

Connectors and cabling

●  1000BASE-T ports: RJ-45 connectors, 4-pair Cat-5E UTP cabling
●  Multigig-T ports: RJ-45 connectors, 4-pair Cat-5E, Cat-6, Cat6A UTP cabling
●  1000BASE-T SFP-based ports: RJ-45 connectors, 4-pair Cat-5E UTP cabling
●  100BASE-FX, 1000BASE-SX, -LX/LH, -ZX, -BX10, DWDM and CWDM SFP transceivers: LC fiber connectors (single-mode or multimode fiber)
●  10GBASE-SR, LR, LRM, ER, ZR, DWDM SFP+ transceivers: LC fiber connectors (single-mode or
multimode fiber)
●  CX1 cable assemblies: SFP+ connector
●  Cisco StackWise-480 stacking ports: copper-based Cisco StackWise cabling
●  Cisco StackPower: Cisco proprietary power stacking cables
●  Ethernet management port: RJ-45 connectors, 4-pair Cat-5 UTP cabling
●  Management console port: RJ-45-to-DB9 cable for PC connections

Thank you for the reply @devils_advocate

and thanks for the information and I am actually looking for what type of SFP's to use(Actually I should say I am looking for actual product number of SFP not the type of SFP, SFP type is definitely 1000Base-T).

Does GBIC w5483 or GBIC w5484 work with 3850 or are there specific copper SFP's for 3850's?

Please advice.

Thanks again in advance.

Sheshu.

That's what the specific module is down as supporting and as Devil said the glc will work

Thank you very much Mark, Looks like GLC-T 1000BASE-T SFP would fulfill our requirement.
