I am trying to get a 6509-E with a SUP720-3B up and running but there seems to be an issue with sup-bootflash and/or NVRAM. I am not able to save the configuration or format sup-bootflash, whenever I try and save the confguration I get the error below:
Router#copy run start
Destination filename [startup-config]?
startup-config file open failed (Bad device info block)
I have also tried erasing the NVRAM but no luck, although it goes through just fine:
Router#erase /all nvram:
Erasing the nvram filesystem will remove all files! Continue? [confirm]
[OK]
Erase of nvram: complete
Router#
Router#
1w2d: %SYS-SP-7-NV_BLOCK_INIT: Initialized the geometry of nvram
Router#
Router#copy run start
Destination filename [startup-config]?
startup-config file open failed (Bad device info block)
When I try to format the sup-bootflash I get the error below:
Router#format sup-bootflash:
Format operation may take a while. Continue? [confirm]
Format operation will destroy all data in "sup-bootflash:". Continue? [confirm]
%Error formatting sup-bootflash (Unspecified error)
Does anyone know if this could be hardware related? I have been searching but I have not been able to find anything about the "Bad device info block" error. The switch was booted ffrom an external flash card and is running Version 12.2(17d)SXB11a

The internal CF has called it "quits". Because the internal CF is formatted in a different way, I'd recommend just get the supervisor card RMA-ed.
Otherwise, the boot variable & config variable string can be re-configured to "look" at Disk0:.

Hey Leo, thanks. That's what I feared. Could you point me in the right direction to modify those settings, thanks.
