CRC errors between 2924 and 7000

A 2924 connected via an feip on a cisco 7000 produces large numbers of CRC errors and eventual loss of connectivity, more errors occur on the 2924 than on the 7000. However, both the 2924 and the feip work fine when connected to a cat5 or cat6 port using the same ports/wires.

This error is repeated several times.

LINK-4-ERROR: FastEthernet0/24 is experiencing errors

Search turned up a couple of cases of CRC errors being produced by CDP messages but nothing indicating a loss of connectiviy like we are seeing here.

Thanks for any help.

Ron

You have a speed duplex mismatch , make sure both sides (2924 and 7000) are hardcoded to 100/full .

Negative! Every combination of speed/duplex was tried and manually set on both sides and verified with 'sh int '.

So, your FEIP has two interfaces, correct? And each interface gives you the choice of using the 40-pin or an RJ-45 (or maybe ST or SC), but not both silultaniously.

Which ports of which interfaces are you currently using? Which ports of which interfaces are currently working with no CRC errors?

FEIP cards only supported one full duplex port or two half duplex ports (speeds were onl 100). When you configure two ports at FULL DUPLEXX you start to get problems.

FEIP2 cards support FULL DUPLEX on both Ports.

Hi,

Check your RJ-45 cable (Either St-Cable or X-Cable)

that your T+, T- goes on the same twisted pair & R+, R- goes in same twisted pair.

Colorcode/Pin No. Check for St-cable
