Cross Stack Etherchannel

Hello Experts,

I am planning to create a Cross Stack Etherchannel Connection between a 3750G switch stack & 3750x Switch stack. These will be tied with 2 fiber links.

Here is a quick run down,

1. The 3750G switch stack has 2x 3750x switches with 2x TenGig SFP modules each.

2. The 3750x switch stack has 1x 3750x and multiple 3750g switches. This switch has 2x TenGig SFP module as well.

3. Planning to run fiber (2) from 3750x switch stack to 3750g switch stack with 1x connection each on 3750x switches.

The 3750G stack has all the VLANs with production servers on it. The 3750x stack is brand new, planning to move all my users from 3750g stack to this stack. This means all my VLAN information from 3750G needs to be sent to 3750x.

Question:

1. After I establish etherchannel between both switches, my computer will be part of 3750x switch stack in a VLAN which is part of 3750g stack. How will I be able to manage 3750x stack?

2. What will happen to existing VLAN or IP address on 3750x?

Please let me now if I need to follow any special steps.

P.S: I made sure VTP domain name is same as well as the VTP configuration on 3750x is lesser than 3750g.

Thanks in advance.

I have read this document few times already, but this does not answer my question with regards to VLANs and managing both switch stacks.

However, the document helps in creating Etherchannel between 2 switch stacks.

Eitherways, appreciate the help.

The config for the 1st switch you convert will not change. Any switches added will inherit the configs of the master, and interfaces will now be 3-tier instead of 2-tier where the 1st tier (number) represents the switch number.
