I know that there is a problem with hardware-switched packets and the command ip debug packet on Catalyst switches.

How is the configuration on the switch to see all ip packet.

You need to change the behavior to process switched. In order to do that, you need to type no ip route-cache under the interface you want process switched turned on.

Here is a simple way to determine a hardware switching problem.

If you suspect packet loss of hardware switched packets, I would suggest that you identify a flow that is failing then issue 2 types of pings. one with and one without the record route option with the source/dest IP address of the affected flow. hardware switching does not occur for pings with the record route option. So if the normal ping fails but the record route option ping works, then you can be sure that its a hardware switching problem.
