Hey guys, I am in some deep weeds here and need a hand. I have an old VAX that speaks DECNet and it needs to talk to another VAX that speaks DECNet that sits in another location. The VAX has a BNC port and a AUI port. I do have a AUI to ethernet adapter for the VAX that lets me get the signal down on ethernet but it is still DECNet. I put a sniffer in the hub and see the traffic using the area.node addressing. The network in between is IP. I need to get these two guys talking to each other and am trying to figure out a way to do this. I know Cisco has a IOS version that supports DECNet but I can't find it. Can anyone suggest a way for me to get these two boxes talking to eachother? I have read that these Open VMS boxes can talk IP, but my admin can't make that happen.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Rob,
There are different IOS versions available for different router platforms. I suggest you start with the IOS Navigator Tool at:
On the page, click on the "Search by Feature" link. A new popup window will appear. In the "Filter..." line, enter the phrase "decnet" and click on the "Search" button. From the "Available Features" window, select either DECNet Phase IV or DECNet Phase V, according to what your VMS is currently running, then click the "Add >" button and then the "Continue" button. The next page will provide you with an extensive list of IOS versions, builds and router platforms that provide the selected DECNet support.
Best regards,
Peter
