Default Gateway On SG300 Switch

I'm having a problem setting the 'default gateway' on an SG300 switch, every time I set it I get an error saying that the gateway needs to be directly connected to the device.

I can't connect the gateway directly to the device as it's the other side of an ASA firewall, is there anyway I can get around this?

The gateway should be L2 adjacent from the device so that it's on the same VLAN as the switch.

Switch is on VLAN10

Gateway is on VLAN10

Could be a few hops away through trunk interfaces, but still L2 adjacent.

Make Sense??

Ok, the switch doesn't currently use VLAN's and therefore has the default VLAN1 for management and all other devices.

Could this be a bug in the web interface? I though it was odd as every other device on the network is configured in the same way.
