Hi,

We have two 6509 with Supervisor Engine 720 10GE configured in a virtual domain.

I see that when a equipment do a ping to a interface vlan, I receive different time responses 2ms 10 ms 80 ms and so on.

When I do a ping from one equipment to another equipment in diffenrent vlan the time respons it's 1ms normaly.

I has been activate mls qos in the vss.

It's possible that the supervisor don't give priority to these traffic?.

Thanks and best regards,

Mauricio

When you ping the IP address of vlan interface, the ping packet need to be punted to CPU to be processed and then send the response back. Therefore, the delay might be caused by a busy CPU.

When you ping a host in a different vlan, the packet (passing through traffic) will be hardware switched and won't need be processed by CPU.

In one word, the packet go through the different data path within the switch, that's why you see this difference.
