dhcp address leases

I have dhcp set up on a switch (long story as to why).

Anyways all was well until i realised that i was having issues with machines getting ips. I look at the bindings and i see that i have ony 18. can anybody help me figure out why dhcp is crapping out?

ip dhcp pool Data

   network 10.0.0.0 255.255.255.0

   default-router 10.0.0.22

   dns-server 10.0.0.38 10.0.0.9

   domain-name putney.local

   lease 30

!

!

no ip domain-lookup

ip dhcp excluded-address 10.0.0.1 10.0.0.124

ip dhcp excluded-address 10.0.0.226 10.0.0.254

Putney-5215Ave-3750-Sw-01#sh ip dhcp pool Data

Pool Data :

Utilization mark (high/low)    : 100 / 0

Subnet size (first/next)       : 0 / 0

Total addresses                : 254

Leased addresses               : 18

Excluded addresses             : 236

Pending event                  : none

1 subnet is currently in the pool :

Current index        IP address range                    Leased/Excluded/Total

0.0.0.0              10.0.0.1         - 10.0.0.254        18    / 236   / 254

why is it that 236 ips are excluded? am i missing something?

Given what you have posted it is difficult to know why the excluded addresses are 236. Is it possible that there are additional addresses excluded in a line that you did not show in your post? Is it possible that the configuration had excluded some other addresses and then was changed to reduce the number of excluded addresses but that this change has not fully gotten into DHCP yet? If you save the config and reboot the router do you still get 236 addresses excluded?

no there are no other exclusions anywhere else. I can't reload now but I will try that later.

still the same. any takers on this? could it some kind of bug?

Just to confirm - you have reloaded the switch and the symptoms continue as they were. Is this a new implementation or has it been running for a while? Did it ever work correctly or has it had this problem since you configured DHCP? You have given us the parts of the config that you believe are important. I wonder if there is something else in the config that is causing this. Would you post the complete config masking sensitive information such as passwords?

Hi,

Can you provide output from sh ip dhcp server statistics and sh ip dhcp conflict.
