Hi all..

I am very new with nexus,

I have one nexus5k connecting to core switch.

Core switch is acting as dhcp server, say vlan 10 and svi10

Nexus also has vlan 10,

When i connect a laptop on nexus and try to get dhcp ip, its not working

Though if static ip is given, everything works fine

What might be the issue??

Ver is 7.2 and dhcp feature is enabled and relay was also given and usimg it as l2 switch only

Hi,

Core switch is acting as dhcp server, say vlan 10 and svi10

If the SVI is on the core then the DHCP should be configured on the core and not the Nexus.

HTH

Yes the core switch only is acting as the dhcp server
But im unable to get the dynamic ip on my laptop thru nexus

What type of switch is the core switch?

Is the DHCP configured on the switch itself or on a separate server?

Is the ip helper-address configured?

HTH

Core switch is 6807, dhcp is contfigured on core itself..
So i guess that doesnt require any ip helper

Hello

Try adding it anyway as Nx-OS differ from IOS the way it  distributes UDP

ip dhcp relay address x.x.x.x
