dhcp related issue

Hello, I've got two cisco routers (2651xm and 2611xm) connected to home gateway (netgear box). Two cisco routers have been configured for DHCP client. I found the 2611xm couldn't get an IP address, 2651xm was fine.

From the debug details, I found there isn't client-id hex dump in the 2611, but 2651 does have. I'm not sure where the issue is. Please help

Hello,

I do not see any specific hint on an error in the 2611XM debug (please note that the debugs you have posted are mixed: the 2611XM-labeled output contains the debug from 2611XM with time index 00:07:xx, then the 2651XM with time index 00:11:xx, then again 2611XM with 00:07:xx - be careful when pasting output).

Three questions:

  1. If you configure the 2611XM with a static IP address, is it capable of pinging yout NetGear box? In other words, with static IP configuration, does it have a working IP connectivity?
  2. Are you using any ACLs on the 2611XM? Perhaps you could post the entire configuration of this router.
  3. Is there any STP being run in your network? Would it be possible that because of the 30 seconds delay necessary to make a newly connected port become Forwarding, the 2611XM would time out the DHCP client operations?
