DHCP Server Port-Based Address Allocation

Hi,

I want to configure cisco 4500 switch as the DHCP server for a VLAN and have it assign one IP address per port. I followed the steps in the article below, but  the client is assigned with a different IP address than the one is configured for that port. These end clients are client routers configured to receive IP address from the DHCP server.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/ios-xml/ios/ipaddr_dhcp/configuration/12-2sx/dhcp-12-2sx-book/dhcp-prt-bsd-aa.html

I also noticed that when there is a client switch connected to this port on 4500 , all the end hosts connected to the client switch were getting IP address and I would like to restrict that as well. That is only allocate single IP address per port. Please let me know if this can be done.

Hi,
if you suspect that another device is giving out IP addresses in your network, I suggest you do DHCP snooping on the switches. With that you can control that it only comes from one source. With that it would work.
