Hi
I'm upgrading a number of WS-C3650-48PD stacks from 03.07.05 to 16.6.6
The upgrades are going well (with the odd switch stuck in "provisioning") but something odd is happening with DHCP snooping.
I have the following dhcp snooping in place for all vlans:
no ip dhcp snooping information option
ip dhcp snooping database flash:DHCP_SNOOPING_DB
After the stacks are upgraded and reload they can produce either of the following syslogs:
DHCP_SNOOPING-6-AGENT_OPERATION_SUCCEEDED
Message Text: DHCP snooping database Write succeeded.
or
DHCP_SNOOPING-4-AGENT_OPERATION_FAILED
Message Text: DHCP snooping binding transfer failed. Expected more data on read.
On the stacks that produce the "DHCP_SNOOPING-4-AGENT_OPERATION_FAILED" syslog, dhcp snooping usually starts working as expected when the clients come back online (printers and MFDs have to be power cycled).
On one stack of 6 switches upgraded this morning that generated the "DHCP_SNOOPING-4-AGENT_OPERATION_FAILED" syslog, dhcp snooping started working as expected for 5 of the 6 switches. DHCP stopped working entirely for 1 switch - a reload resolved the issue.
Can anyone tell me why some stacks generate the "DHCP_SNOOPING-4-AGENT_OPERATION_FAILED" syslogs and others don't? Is this an intermittent bug in 16.6.6 or is it related to the upgrade process?
Thanks
Andy
