Dialer not getting showing IP Address from Provider

DOUGLAS DRURY
Level 1
Level 1

Hi All,

One morning my client said they had no internet when I got there Dialer1 had no IP address.  I tried disconnecting the DSL cable, shutting down the Dialer1 then no shut, also tried rebooting the router with no success.  I called the provider they said the router logging in fine and was given the correct IP.

Looking at my config it hasn't changed.  I quickly setup and CIsco 887VA and it connected fine and got an IP.  The router they should have is a Cisco 1921 with a VDSL wic card

Any suggestions as to why the Dialer1 isn't getting an IP?

Below is the POST output during bootup

This doc may help troubleshooting pppoe with DSL

HI Mark,

Thanks for the advise.  I tried your debug commands along with some PPPoE debugs.  I got the below can you tell me what it means if you can?  I tried to set the IP address statically on the interface and for some odd reason it all worked fine.  however, When I set it back to ip address negotiated it didn't get an IP address from the ISP.

Hi

so looking at the output it passed authentication and then received a default  route , were you even seeing this route added to the route table on your local router ?

Try add this to your dialer ppp ipcp route default

M-RT-01#, address 212.69.63.105 *Feb 14 16:11:01.581: Di1 IPCP: Install route to 212.69.63.105

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply.  I tried that along with setting the VDSL mode but still no success.  Can't see the IP address on the interface.  I also updated the firmware to the latest but still no success.

Thanks

Doug

Hello Doug,

with 'ppp ipcp route default' you technically don't need 'ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0 Dialer 1' anymore. Try and remove the default route from your config, then shut/no shut the interface.

Hi Georg,

I tried that but still no IP address

Thanks

Doug

Doug,

check if under the controller VDSL0/0/0, there is an option 'modem ukfeature'.

Since the same config worked before, something must have changed on the IDNet side...

What options do you have under the controller settings ?

Below is the options i have

I tried to look for the UK option but couldn't seem to get it when I hit ? under modem

I added in the uk modem options however, still no success in getting an IP address.  the router is in my office on a test line and it's showing the same issue.  below is my interface config
