Did you build the network models correctly?

Training task
In Cisco Packet Tracer, build a model of your network (according to the figure
and the option), selecting the necessary equipment and network environments.

Questions
1. I used the 2911 router version, the 2960 switch, since they were used in the lab work of the Cisco course. Are these versions suitable or is it better to use others?
2. In a private network, I connected the routers via GigabitEthernet, since there is only LAN inside the private one. Is this correct? Or should I use Serial? In a public network, I used Serial, since there is WAN
3. For routers in a private network, I added an HWIC-4ESW module with 4 FastEthernet ports in order to connect the last switch. I used 3 GigabitEthernet ports for routers and a switch. Did I use the correct module or do I need a different one? I wanted to use an HWIC-1GE-SFP with 1 GigabitEthernet, but for some reason after adding it, I can’t connect it to another deviceFrame 2136138200.png

@andrejdukin51

Yes for all your question. The module HWIC-1GE-SFP is Fiber, If you use this module you need to use Fiber cables on both side. However, the switch you selected Will not support Fiber, so, stick with what you selected.

I started to configure the router interfaces and encountered the fact that it is impossible to set an IP address on fastethernet from the module. Should I use another module or version of the router? VLAN cannot be used here

I see several ways

1. Leave the router version 2911 and add serial ports. But we have a private network, is it possible?
2. Take one of the router versions: 2811, 2620XM, Router-PT, Router-PR-Empty and add modules with copper wires

2911 have 3 giga interface. Is not that enough?

No, it isn't enough. I am using 3 gigabit ethernet to connect to 2 routers and one switch. I also need an interface for one switch.

Use 2811 with module NM-2FE2W. Will give you 4 interfaces.

Thank you.

Should I use a 2911 router in a private network? We just have one unused gigabit interface

We still need to justify the reasons for using these versions of devices in the work. I don't know how to do this yet

If you show me the whole assigment, I can help you more but I dont know what its been asking so it is very difficult to help.

1. In Cisco Packet Tracer, build a model of your network (in accordance with the pattern
and option), choosing the necessary equipment and network media.
2. Add HTTP servers to the public and private subnets (in accordance with
option). On public and private HTTP servers, set your copyright sites
(with different content).
3. Conduct the IPV4 network planning (in accordance with the option), using
Besclass addressing.
Ethernet subnet sizes are the same, maximum possible.
Ethernet subnet, which, in accordance with the option, must be divided into
VLAN’S also the same maximum possible size within the address
The spaces of this subnet.
Use the remaining reserve addresses for P2P subnets.

Using the Place Note button on the diagram, indicate the addresses
subnets (both for the Ethernet subnets, and for subnets P2P), masks prefixes (in that
The subnets that were divided into vlan’s in accordance with the option, indicate
VLAN identifiers, IPV4 Addresses and masks prefixes at terminal devices).
4. Perform the basic tuning of terminal devices, switches and
routers: the system names of intermediate devices must match
inscriptions in the figure + your last name
Password for a privileged mode take class
Password for all lines - Cisco).
IP address of the virtual interface-the last address of the device in this network
The address of the main gateway is the first address of the device in this network
5. Configure router interfaces. Serial-Links should have different
Passing capacity. On the diagram, indicate which Link which is installed
Passing capacity.

6. For each Ethernet subnet (except for the one that contains VLAN), create DHCP-
Servers. Exclude the address of the switch interface from the distribution and address and address

HTTP server, if it is in this subnet. Adding workstations to the topology
(PC) (at least three), make sure that the DHCP server does not give out conflict reports
addresses and correctly distributes addresses.
7. In the Ethernet subnet, which must be divided into vlan’i (in accordance with
option) Add eight working stations (PC) to the topology, create four

VLAN - two working stations in each and provide traffic transmission between
Vlan’Ami.
8. Set static and dynamic routing. For the internal network
Use the RIP protocol, for the external - OSPF.
Internal nodes must “see” the external network, for which on the border

R2 router set the default route and spread it by RIP-
Network. The RIP network should not announce its routes to the external network. Check

The contents of routing tables.
OSPF should know the capacity of Serial-Links. Apply for this

Bandwidth team on Serial interfaces. Check if they are used among Serial-
Links are faster links.

9. In a public network, create a DNS server and enter a record about the data database
Http-site from the inner subnet.
10. On the router R2, implement NAT. Provide visibility from public
Network HTTP Sit of the Inner subnet.

Wouldn't it be better to use gigabit? The router pt has them

andrejdukin51_0-1730136513696.png

I believe this module is for L2 ports but I am not sure. You can try.

I can install IP address. But I'm not sure which version of router is better to use and why? What do you think? I posted the full task above

andrejdukin51_0-1730138292857.png

As per the assignment, any router  would be fine.

I think my teacher will ask me to explain why this or that version of router and switch

It seems to me that the PT router is old and it is better to use 2811. But it does not have GigabitEthernet. What would be better for a private network? To use the PT router with gigabit ports or 2811 with fast ethernet?

And for a public one, leave 2911 or use the one that will be in the private one?
