Difference Between auto qos trust and Auto qos classify

I'm struggling to find the difference between auto qos trust and auto qos classify.  Does classify do a better job of classifying the traffic, and then allowing you to manually adjust the input/output queues?  Also, where should you use auto qos trust vs auto qos classify?  Thanks!

auto trust meaning the SW trust any QoS tag value receive from connect device which it need later for queue or shape traffic
auto classify the SW dont trust any QoS tag and instead add tag auto

where we use these two
let assume
PC-SW1-SW2
SW1 need to use auto classify so it use auto classify
SW2 not need to re-classify but it can trust SW1 tag so it use auto trust

Hello @GreekCiscoKid

The auto qos trust command configures the switch to trust the QoS markings on incoming traffic, allowing the switch to make forwarding and queuing decisions based on these existing markings without altering them. This is ideal when traffic has already been correctly classified by upstream devices such as IP phones, routers, or other switches, and you are confident in the accuracy of these markings.

On the other hand, the auto qos classify command configures the switch to actively classify and mark incoming traffic based on predefined criteria, such as traffic type (e.g., voice, video, data...), thus ensuring that the switch applies new QoS markings as traffic enters. This approach is suitable when incoming traffic has not been classified by upstream devices or when consistent QoS markings need to be applied across the network.

Essentially, auto qos classify can give you a solid baseline classification, allowing for further manual adjustment of input/output queues and other QoS parameters to meet specific network requirements. Use auto qos trust when upstream devices mark traffic accurately and reliably, and use auto qos classify when traffic needs to be classified at the switch level to ensure proper QoS handling.

Best regards

Of the two commands, auto qos trust does NOT classify, while auto qos classify DOES classify.

". . .allowing you to manually adjust the input/output queues?"

Modifying auto class-maps and and auto policy-map is independent of interface commands, but there are recommendations to work with copied versions.  This because AutoQoS consists of a whole bunch of interrelated configuration actions.

When using AutoQoS and you want it to determine how to process interface ingress.
