Hi,
I notice some of the IOS using c7200p-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T3.bin and c7200-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T3.bin,
We are running cisco 7206 VXR Router with NPE-G2. what is the benefit of using c7200p instead only c7200?

Hi,
Are you able to get the image "c7200-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T3.bin" for NPEG2 in Cisco FN? Because for NPEG2 Cisco FN will only list "c7200p-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T3.bin ". IOS of NPEG2 starts with "c7200p" for NPEG1 starts with "c7200". You can check the IOS for NPEG2 using cisco.com/go/fn.
HTH...
thanks

The difference between the two images is which NPE they are for. The NPE-G2 uses a PowerPC based CPU and requires the c7200p prefix. All other NPEs at this time use MIPS based processors. The same answer is also documented here:

Check it out

Warning Unlike other network processing engines, the Cisco NPE-G2 has its own Cisco IOS software images with the prefix of "c7200p-" in the software image file names. All other network processing engines such as NPE-225, NPE-400 and NPE-G1 are compatible with images with the prefix of "c7200-." The Cisco NPE-G2 does not boot up with a software image with the prefix of "c7200-". Conversely, the other network processing engines such as NPE-225, NPE-400, and NPE-G1 do not boot up with the software image with the prefix of "c7200p-".
