Direct replacement for the 6807-XL

Wanted to check if there is a replacement for the 6807-XL? Is this particular bundle going end of life - C6807-XL-S6T-BUN?

The switch selector tool has removed the 6807-xl and now shows the catalyst 9400. However the 9400 doesn't have any 10G linecards available at the moment.

Can someone confirm that for large campus core and distribution layers for a module and 10G linecard requirement the only option available now and for the next 3-6 months is only the 6807-XL with sup6t?

It is not yet formally announced, but the direct replacement for the entire Catalyst 6K range will be the Catalyst 9500 (as a core switch).

The 9400 is meant to replace the entire range of the Catalyst 4K as a distribution switch.  The 9400 is not meant to be as a core switch.  (Go ahead, ask why not.)

When the 9400 starts shipping, a line card that support SFP+ will be ready for order.

No, the 9500 is designed and positioned for core switching infrastructure.  The logic behind this is the amount of 10- and 40 Gbps port at wire rate.  

With the current supervisor card, Sup 1, the 9400 can only push 80 Gbps per slot of traffic.  So with a 24-port SFP+ line card, one can only use eight (out of 24) ports.  80 Gbps/slot might be "fine" for some network, the 9400 is not suitable for being a core switch.  And what a waste in precious "real estate", if I may add.  

For the 9400 to even support 480 Gbps/slot, it won't be available until Sup 3 or Sup 4 comes out.  And that will take, at least 6 to 8 years out.

Theres no eol announced for the 6807 so its going to be around for  a bit yet , we just purchased some for one of regional offices recently , other option we looked at were more 7710s or 7010 but we ended up going 6807
