Hi Everyone,
We currently have a dual Core setup using a pair of Cisco 4510's. The company is growing and we will adding another 200 users or so for a total of 600. I believe the existing setup will be ok, but I do have enough to upgrade one of them to 6509, but not both.
Are there any issues with running dual cores where the active is 6509 and standby is 4510? 10 -15 access switches will be uplinked to the Core via 1 Gig fiber ports, or maybe a 2 Gb port channel.
Your input is appreciated it.
Thanks

1Gb uplink? It should be fine.

Hi,
It should work fine, but remember that every platform runs a different IOS image with different feature sets. So, if three is feature you deploy on the 6500, it may not be necessary the same for 4500. Some times, not all the show commands are the same The other thing is that now you will have to worry about maintaining different images (one for the 6500 and one for the 4500), so management becomes more difficult. My opinion, I would upgrade both core devices to 6500 or neither until you have a bigger budget.
