Sir,
Is EIGRP a public routing protocal or cisco propriety routing protocal. And name of the other vendor, who use this EIGRP protocal?

its a Cisco proprietary protocol but i hear its being made into open standard like ospf , we use it in our global network which spans Europe,US,Asia for our IGP its very fast convergence and has very flexible metrics and has the ability for equal and unequal cost load balancing , its a common IGP among companies that are Cisco based hardware

Cisco has released an informational RFC but I personally doubt that it will be an open standard some day.

Historically EIGRP was developed and regarded as a proprietary protocol. Cisco has now published the informational RFC which makes the protocol available to all and provides information which anyone could use to produce their own implementation of the protocol. I know that some groups are working on producing implementations of the protocol but am not aware of any vendors who have released working implementations yet.
