EIGRP Versions. Major/Minor Release

Guys, Can you help.

In the type 5 (hello packet) there is another eigrp release version 1.2 apart from the version 2 in the same header.

This version 1.2 does not appear in any other eigrp packet type, so can I assume this is the revision of the hello protocol for eigrp?

So EIGRP Version 2 hello protocol version 1.2?

Also there is a concept of eigrp Major/Minor releases? What is this and can someone explain.

I am embarking on an EIGRP migration and need to make sure all my EIGRP versions are compatable.

Many thx

Ken

Many thx all,

Ahh,

I have now understood that this type 5 packet has two TLVs in it. One for EIGRP parameters (0x0001) and one for Software version (0x0004)- "General TLVs" but do not understand the difference between revision two and software version 1.2 and assume that the other eigrp packets dont need general TLVs? Why, I dont know.

Still some help would be great :)

Thx

Ken
