What are people out there using ELAN solutions for beside maybe the obvious of VMware. Is a large layer 2 network across multiple sites really a need these days? With things like SD-WAN and DMVPN why do we get these solutions now a days? presenting a large layer 2 vlan to multiple sites causes a conundrum when you need to route out of that vlan and traffic at site C has to travel to Site A SVI to communicate to another vlan.
So is the purpose of these ELANs for corporations to run their own "MPLS" per say? Put routers at each location and run a routing protocol? I feel like a pure layer 2 network across multiple sites is a nightmare.
