Enabling spanning tree port fast.

Hi all

I want to enable spanning tree port fast on all the edge ports(ports going to my dell desktops) on all my access layer switches. I have nearly 20(switches) of them. So can I enable it in my live network. Im afraid that it would casue any down time. Please suggest

Hi,

it will not at all affect any thing in the live enviroment, this commands enables the ports less than 3 seconds. make sure that ur not entering this command on the port which is getting uplinked to the other switch, bcoz that might form a temporary loop, so juz enable "spanning-tree portfast" only to the end host(eg. where the PC's N/w Printers are connected)
