Take a look at the EOL announcement below does this mean after Jan. 30,2016 there will be no more security updates on the software or am I interpreting this incorrectly?

I think you are reading it correctly. No more bug fixes for SXJ. They want you to use IOS 15 :)
BTW, SXJ is about 6 years old.

Correct. And that time you can go to Sup-720-VS or 2T or whatever newer sup Cisco will have.

I agree with Reza. Last day of SXJ software support is 30 January 2016. If one continues to use this version then it's "you're on your own, bud".

Ok this was part of a eol for a 6500 Sup720 3bxl . So in reading this eol ( http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-6500-series-switches/eol_c51-697975.html ; ) if we upgrade to 15.X we should be ok till 2018 at which time all support ends ?
