Dear All,

I have done the IOSXE upgrade for the C9500-24Q from 17.06.05 to 17.09.04.

The upgrade was successful.

I got only one error:

Sep 26 15:31:59.521: %ISSU-3-ISSU_COMP_CHECK_FAILED: Switch 1 R0/0: install_engine: ISSU compatibility check failed for 17.09.04.0.5180

To do the upgrade I followed this guide:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst9500/software/release/17-9/release_notes/ol-17-9-9500/upgrading_the_switch_software.html

Do you have any Ideas obout this error message?

Best regards

JF

Hello!

I would say the message is a warning that the new version dosen't support ISSU. If you do not use ISSU I wouldn't worry about the message. Is it displaying frequently or only on startup?

Hello!

Did you do a ISSU upgrade? Or do you have a standalone switch? I don't belive that ISSU is supported on 17.9.4, that is why the warrning is showing up.

Hi Daniel,

I have two 9500 are both new.

I am upgrading in standalone mode, using the command:

install add file flash:cat9k_iosxe.17.9.4.SPA.bin activate commit

So that upgrade success and you reloaded the switch and working as expected ?

- if the switch upgraded and working as expected  then only message you getting part of standalone upgrae (i ignore it)
