Hello,

I'm configuring a dozen C1000's. I'm using putty and there was no problem for the first four switches, at all. But now I'm stuck at switch 5 and 6. They boot up and the only thing I see is this:

%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/network-confg (Socket error)
%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/cisconet.cfg (Socket error)
%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/switch-confg (Socket error)
%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/ciscortr.cfg (Socket error)

...and so on.

I know, I could try webgui, use "no service config",.... but I can not enter commands. The putty screen doesn't react to input. I'm not succesfull using the webgui because every website about cisco you open says another "standard ip", the trick with setting your ip settings to DHCP doesn't work for me because I don't get a default gateway from the cisco. (read this somewhere too).

Is there something else I could try ?

Thank you very much,

but I can not enter commands. The putty screen doesn't react to input.

This generally shows the problem with cable or client you using (make sure you have parity and flow - set to none)

since you mentioned other switches you staging working, then there may something wrong with switches also.

i would try different cable  / different PC / different terminal clients.

Thank you all for your input. Today I was able to continue, just using another console cable did it ...

Hello
It’s not clear how you are trying to connect - if If the switch has no config why are you trying to telnet to it?

If you are trying to connect via console and the switch is in a stack then you need to use the master switches console port no other

Thank you guys for your replies so far. But today, I'm unexpectedly unable to continue configuring those switches, so I'll continue in the beginning of january.

I am thinking about this message "System config parse from (tftp://255.255.255.255/network-confg) failed". If it can not make the network connection one possible cause would be that the switch interface is not correctly connected. Can you check on that?
