Hi guys

Iam working on setting up Etherchannel between Cisco  catalyst switch 3750 and SERVER VMware ESXI. I could set up the channel group configurations in switch bringing two ports of a switch gi 1/0/1 and gi 1/0/2 to load balance based on  MAC address.

and on other sideWe use Server Vmware  ESXi only in command mode not  GUI mode, now iam unaware of how to team two Network adapters in Command based, so that i can use these two NIC's for load balancing and if possible failover can some one please help me with this. I lost in finding a solution for this through browsing dont know what to do with this issue badly Need help from u guys please help me out.

Thanks in advance

Srikanth

Hi Srikanth

i assuing you are not using Cisco Nexus 100v witch here

why you do not use the GUI esxi not like esx the cli access is limited

thorugh the GUI it is just matter if you go to the networking, vswitch and  add new port or properties of the exiting once then you can gorup them

see the bellow links might help you

Hi Srikanth,

AFAIK ESXI has no CLI however you will find some articles such as :

http://www.virtualizationadmin.com/articles-tutorials/vmware-esx-and-vsphere-articles/general/how-to-access-the-vmware-esxi-hidden-console.html

That will tell you about a "hidden" CLI for ESXI.

My first question is: Can you please make sure that you are after support for ESXI? by the look of your post I had a fealinf that you might need to look into ESX load balancing which is a whole different story ( as far as I remember...)

If it's ESX you might look into Red Hat load balancing commands and see if that helps...

Cheers,

Fabio
