Hi,
I'm planning on using 2 supervisor engine cards on my 6509 switch and configure their redundancy using the RPR or RPR+.
I understood that both supervisors can't work simultaneously, meaning they can't provide load-balancing or active/active operation; instead they operate based on an active/standby failover.
Is it possible to configure an EtherChannel between 2 ports located on different supervisor engines?
Even if the Supervisor engine is in a standby mode, the Gigabit ports on it should be active, therefore i was wondering if the Gigabit port can forward traffic although its supervisor engine is in a standby mode.
Thanks,
Nabil

Hello,
This is absolutely possible and will not cause any problem at all. Traffic will be forwarded like any other port.
HTH,
Dario
