Etherchannel per port bandwidth

Hi,

I have done Etherchannel configuration on one of my switch. The load balancing is enabled as src-dst-ip. My question is that what happens if one of the port that is being utilized for a specific source-destination ip reaches its maximum capacity? Will there be conjustion or another port of the etherchannel will be brought to utilization for the same couple?

Hi,

Correct, if it is coming from the same source and the link is over utilized, then there will be packet drops and the traffic will not get shifted to another physical port.  Remember, when you create a  Portchannel, you just  add more pipes, but don't increase the bandwidth of the physical interface.

Thanks

My question is that what happens if one of the port that is being utilized for a specific source-destination ip reaches its maximum capacity? Will there be conjustion (yes) or another port of the etherchannel will be brought to utilization for the same couple (no)?

If this situation routinely arises, you might want to see if another hashing algorithm works better in your situation.

Thanks
