Hello ,

There is one important rule when configuring etherchannels: All interfaces in the etherchannel need the same speed and duplex settings, trunking encapsulation (dot1q/isl) or the same access VLAN in case of an access port, same STP cost and last but not least: no etherchannel port can be configured in a monitor session (SPAN port).

If any of the above criteria fails then port can comedown in suspended state.

Hope it Helps !!

Hello Prashant,

as noted by Ganeshh the member ports need to have identical configuration in terms of speed and duplex

From the show command you have reported it looks like that ports connected to ISP1 are in auto mode auto 100 auto full, and ports connected to ISP2 are configured for 100 Mbps full duplex manually.

The etherchannel code is likely suspending the second port for this reason

You may need to interact with ISP2 tech stuff to achieve a compatible configuration with the first link.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Isp 1 has set as below followig parameters

Auto-Negotiation

Flow Control

Speed and Duplex           100Mbps, Full Duplex

Auto-Negotiation Status               Complete

On my side  for isp1 i have done no seetings The interface status  at both sides is as

Full-duplex, 100Mb/s, media type is 10/100/1000BaseT

input flow-control is off, output flow-control is off

  Clock mode is auto

Etherchaanel is working fine for this interface.

For isp2 following parameters

Speed : 100Mb

Duplex : full

Negotiation : off

On my side for isp2 I have set as

Speed : 100Mb

Duplex : full   on both inerface

But etherchannel is displaying as suspended

Hello Prashant,

Can you please post the show etherchannel detail output from the switch that reports the suspended port? Thank you!

Best regards,

Peter

Gi1/0/39                     connected    routed     a-full  a-100 10/100/1000BaseTX

Gi1/0/40                     suspended    routed       full    100 10/100/1000BaseTX

From your initial post, Gi1/0/39 connects to ISP1 & Gi1/0/40 connects to ISP2 (both at Site2).

If that's the case, you won't be able to configure port channel between these interfaces.

For a port-channel to come up, the remote side of the member ports should also be on the same switch / virtual switch.
