First time configuring an EtherChannel. Need to do something because current 1 gig link is full during peak times. We are already running data on a port that will be included in the EtherChannel. When we turn this up, will it affect that data flow? Also, the ports on the 4948 are adjacent but the ports on the 7606 are not. Will this cause a problem?

Hi,
No it wont affect the data port rather it will be added to a pipe with additional bandwidth but ensure that other end is also having same type of duplex and speed setting configured so that channel come up without any problem.
Hope to help !!

What do you mean by "We are already running data on a port that will be included in the EtherChannel." Do you mean that the port that is going to be included in the EC is up and running and currently carring some other traffic? If yes, the traffic will be interupted briefly during configuration.
Also, "the ports on the 4948 are adjacent but the ports on the 7606 are not." Do you mean the 2nd port is not directly connected like the port that is fully utilized (port 1)? If yes, you can't form the EC directly. Both ports' connection should be the same along with the same configuration.
