OK gents ..thanks.. But at least there must be a way for load balancing on the two links ?? say by adjusting spanning tree port cost, or by disabling it altogether   etc. I am running PVST...

But at least there must be a way for load balancing on the two links

Remove the 2950 on Gi1/0/1 or put dual links to the remote end 2950.

If you're looking to do Etherchannel to that 2950, your best bet would be to use this configuration.

Spanning tree will keep you from doing anything else.  However, with only a single L3 switch, you have a single point of failure no matter how you look at it.

If you have the $$, install a second L3 switch and dual-connect your 2950s.  If highavailability is not important, what you've got below is probably best.

Just curious, what's your end game?  What are you looking to accomplish?  Are you experiencing high utilization between the switches?
