Ethernet Ring Protection (thirdparty Switches) Uplink Support with Cisco Core/Distribution Switches.

Hi Tech People,

Could we connect third party Switches Ring  (4 switches with ERP running) uplinks  to Cisco Distribution/Core switches (9K).

could you share any idea, document or information regarding this design. Block diagram attached for information.

Hi,

Not sure what vendor you are using for your ERP, but most 3rd part switch vendors can work with Cisco switches with no issues.

your are right, but if ERP is not supported on Cisco switches, how thirdparty ERP ring control loops while uplink to cisco  Distribution Switch. Cisco Supports RSTP/MSTP and thirdpary vendor is using ERP. Intermediate  device should undertstand  ERP to control Loop.
