hi. all

I would like to know what condition of flow contol on C6509.

as I know flow contol of C6509 is divided send/receive. also, send condition is desired.

someday, I connect with different network devices that flow condition is off. the result is flow control send ON on C6509.

it is a same resalt when autonegotiation on and off.

As a result, Could you tell me condition of flow control on C6509 when it's default condition(flow control send desired).

Hello Chris,

Flow control allows for pause frames to be sent by the far end device if its input buffer were to begin to fill up. Of course flow control must be negotiated and the device might or might not respond to the pause frames.

The Pause mechanism is designed to prevent un-necessary discards of received frames from the input buffer on the far end device. The pause frame contains a parameter that indicates the length of time the  sending device to wait

before it sends more data frames. The device that receives the pause frame ceases to send data for the specified period. When this timer expires, the device begins to send data frames again.

The below links would explain you about the modes and the standard best practices involved with flowcontrol, (This is for SX train)
