Looking for a decent free SNMP software. Can anyone recommend free or very inexpensive basic Network Management Software that I could use to manage SNMP. I am looking to setup basic network monitoring and alerting.

Hi there,
There is some very good free software that I use. Have a look at:-
NetSNMP
http://net-snmp.sourceforge.net/
MRTG
TrapReciever
http://www.ncomtech.com/trapreceiver.html
Failing that - have a look at these open source offerings:
http://sourceforge.net/search/?type_of_search=soft&words=snmp
Hope that helps a bit - if it does - give it a rating

PS - If you're a bit of a linux chap, then there are loads more options and you can build enterprise network management with OpenNMS (http://www.opennms.org) or Nagios (http://www.nagios.org)

Google for Getif. While it will not do much for you as a monitoring solution, it will help a bunch when you are setting things up and testing SNMP MIBs.
