Hi, got a faulty router 2821 with etherswitch module (NME-16ES-1G-P) which I transferred into my 2811 router. The module has no error however the switch module doesn't give any power to our 3 APs (which are getting its power to this module). But it was working (the POE) when the module was inside the faulty 2821 router.
Hope anyone can help me.
Thanks

Dear Red,
Please check in "sh ver" ,whether switch module is being sensed by the IOS.
Please share the exact IOS on the router.

Hi Ameya,
Here's the sho ver on the 2811 (below) but I also used the ios from the old router 2821 (c2800nm-ipvoice-mz.124-1c) which used to be working however when I transferred it to the 2811 it doesn't work.

Hi Redrobish,
As i suspected, ur current IOS is incompatible,
Sh ver is not showing the ether module.
You will have to find the right IOS for your router to sense the ethernet module.
Will try to share the exaco IOS soon.
Please rate if helps.

Hmm interesting! On my old 2821, the sho ver didn't show the etherswitch module as well but its working and I also used the old router's IOS (c2800nm-ipvoice-mz.124-1c) to the new router 2811 to make sure but still doesn't work....pls. let me know what particular IOS so I can try.
many thanks

12.4 shoud support that module - 12.4(1) is the minimum needed for this module on the 2800 routers. it could however be a power supply issue, have a look at table 9 in this link -

Hi jon,
On the table 9 (of the link), both the 2821 and 2811 requires upgrading the router's internal power supply to an AC-IP version? How come our old faulty 2821 doesn't need to have an AC-IP power? Can you pls. clear this and how to check if it exist?
thanks jon
