GBIC Compatibility Question

Hi everyone,

We need a GBIC card for a Catalyst 3560 switch (24 port), and I had a question about compatibility.

I checked for GBIC models according to:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps4999/products_tech_note09186a00807a30d6.shtml#support4

I recommended:

Cisco GLC-SX-MM=

My boss ordered Cisco GLC-SX-MM-RGD= instead.

I didn't see the RGD model listed as compatible with the 3560, but was wondering whether anyone would know if it would work anyways?

Thanks for your help!!

Your fiber is OK, but the GBIC won't work. Like you suggested, you will need GLC-SX-MM. As long as the package has not been opened or written on, the VAR should take it back.

The RGD is not supported in the 3560 and I doubt it will work. There are also fiber specifics that need to be met for RGD-

Our wavelength is 850, core size is 62.5 and cable distance is 400 feet.

I take it we should be using the GLC-SX-MM like i recommended :/
