We are about to replace Nortel 470 switches at some of our locations. My question is what would be a recommended Cisco switch to replace these with? I want to be able to stack to accommodate all ports in the MDF/IDF closet. Currently the locations are L2 but L3 could be a possiblity.

If you are looking to stack switches with L-3 capabilities, look into Cisco 3750 series switches.

I agree with Reza (+5). The only Layer2/3 stack-able switch is the 3750/3750E/3750X series of switches.
If you are in search for a stack-able Layer2 switch then you have the choice of the 2960S (desktop access switch) or the 2975.
