I received help to enter the 2900 console, but the output are not distinguishable words. I get symbols and letters without sense. I am using hyperterminal with ASCII.

Hello,
try different speeds, the default is 9600 baud, but the console speed might have been changed. Also, try the new version of Hyperterminal (I think I have seen your post before, you can download Hypertermnal version 6.3 at http://www.hilgraeve.com/htpe/index.html)

These symptoms sound like a mismatch betwee the baud rate of the console and the settings of your terminal emulation software. I would suggest that you change the settings of your terminal emulation software to try the various speeds that are available on the console and see if you find one that does match. Be aware that in some terminal emulation software that when you change the speed setting you may need to stop and re-start the connection.

Hi ,
I am sure you ate using very old 2900 Xl switch which is the original 2900 XL switch. You have to use null cable instead of using regular console cable.

Hi,
Try to change the baud rate when you are setting up the hyperterminal settings. It could be poassible that some has set a different baudrate on teh switch console settings. Also try to replace your roll-over cable.
