Hi there
we have 2 new 2960X switches that are installed. we are installing 3 fire panels and using a cable attach them to the switches. we keep getting this error on any port that we try
%LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface GigabitEthernet1/0/14, changed state to down
and then the panels go offline.... the ports are configured basic
sw mo acc
sw acc vlan XXX
spanning-tree portfast
I tried hardcoding the speed and full duplex. no matter what nothing allows these to go online.
on our older 2960S switches.. everything works great.
any ideas what might make these ports go down?

we tried several cables, plugged directly from firepanel to switch...
I can connect my laptop in any of these ports and nothing happens... I mean it connects and I have network...

Hi
is spanning tree causing it , are the ports going err disabled , when the port goes down whats the stp status ?
show spanning-tree int gx/x or show spanning-tree vlan x
can you post one of the interface outputs that's effected it might show something --show interface xx

it was nto spanning tree that was causing this.
not sure why but it was the POE .
I took a device that was working in a different area, and installed it on these switches 2960X.
in the loggs i saw it asked for power (POE) then disabled. but we have 2 batteries that power the fire panels.
as soon as i power inline never on the ports.
the panels came up and worked just fine. but only had to do this with the 2960X series switches .. the 2960S switches worked just fine.
