Hey there,
I am trying to make "HOST-A" (10.10.40.10/24) ping all hosts of "Network B" (10.10.60.255) which resides on another network/subnet using the help of "directed-broadcast".
(HOST A)======R1=====(fa 0/0)R2=====(Network B)
10.10.40.10/24 10.10.60.0/24
According to wireshark, one of the hosts in Network B, HOST-B, actually receives an icmp request packet
Source IP= 10.10.40.10 Destination IP=255.55.255.255
but it does not generate an icmp reply back to 10.10.40.10
So, HOST-A gets a reply back from R2 interface 0/0 only which has an ip address of 10.10.10.2/30.
Why is that?
According to many cisco documentations and tutorials, HOST-A should get a reply back from both 10.10.10.2 and HOST-B (10.10.60.10)
Abdul,
