Hello,
I need to change the "root view" password as I need to amend a roles based view called "priv3", how do I do this?
We login to the switch via radius, but it does have 2 local accounts that only work shoudl the radius server be unavailable.
username cisco privilege 15 secret 5 $1$.N84$mFonRgLuRo4mzx7Q1Xvcx0
username cisco2 view priv3 secret 5 $1$RoPn$cgETR2/X9UYU00NDEZ/Ic1
I though it was the enable secret password but it isn't as I have changed this.
Thanks

Andy,
When you get your your enable prompt, type "enable view"

When I login it is already in enable privileged mode by the looks of it for example:
Test123#
We use Radius which makes my account have privilege 15 straight away.

You should be able to do from the enable prompt:
enable view
Password:
It will tell you if you are switched to the view. Otherwise, you can check what view you're in with "sh parser view".

Andy,
If I put in the wrong password, I get the same thing:
R4>en
Password:
R4#enable view
Password:
% Authentication failed
R4#
Here's what I get all the way through:
User Access Verification
Username: Cisco
Password:
R4>en
Password:
R4#sh parser view
No view is active ! Currently in Privilege Level Context
R4#
R4#
R4#enable view
Password:
R4#
*Mar 1 00:34:54.771: %PARSER-6-VIEW_SWITCH: successfully set to view 'root'.
R4#sh parser view
Current view is 'root'
R4#
Maybe you have the incorrect secret password? You could also try bringing your security level down to see if that will force you to enable it, but I doubt that's it. My security level is 15 for this Cisco account:
R4#sh priv
Current privilege level is 15
R4#

Hello,
I have just found that if I disable our radius servers then I can log with the local priv 15 account and use the secret password successfully when I use "enable view". Obviously I need to turn on radius again and use my Active Directory username and password, when I do this the secret password does not work when I try the "enable view" command, strange isn't it?
Thanks

Hi Andy ,
When we enter 'enable view ' a new request is send to AAA servers with username 'root' . SO we need to add a user 'root' on AAA server with the password you wish and this should help .
