How to access bash terminal on cisco Nexus 5696 Chassis where I can run simple commands a like ls, pwd, ifconfig etc Edit

Do not have access to 5696, but our nexus 9K we can do as below :
switch# guestshell

in addition to the other post, you might also try:
N5696# configure terminal
N5696(config)# feature bash-shell
N5696# run bash
