How to change Catalyst 9200L from BUNDLE to INSTALL mode?

Hello,

I have a stack of two Cisco Catalyst C9200L switches (C9200L-48T-4G) one in active and the other in standby mode and noticed that they are both in BUNDLE mode.

As I would like to upgrade the IOS from the current 16.9.2 to 16.12.05 I want to use this occasion to change from BUNDLE to INSTALL mode as this is the recommended way based on the upgrade documentation.

Now before upgrading my IOS, how can I change from BUNDLE to INSTALL mode? I did not find this information in the official Cisco documentation...

That's my stack here:

Switch Ports Model SW Version SW Image Mode
------ ----- ----- ---------- ---------- ----
* 1 52 C9200L-48T-4G 16.9.2 CAT9K_LITE_IOSXE BUNDLE
2 52 C9200L-48T-4G 16.9.2 CAT9K_LITE_IOSXE BUNDLE

Thanks

The complete instruction can be found in the Release Notes.

install add file flash:filename.bin activate commit

Once done, change the boot variable string to point to the "packages.conf" file.

And then reboot the stack.

Thank you for your answer, so you are telling me that if I simply following the INSTALL mode procedure to upgrade the IOS, it will automatically switch from BUNDLE to INSTALL mode?

Correct.

Once you're finish, post the complete output to the following commands:

sh boot
more flash-1:packages.conf
more flash-2:packages.conf
