How to detect the failure of a remote L2 link

Hi Folks,

I have this scenario.

3750-------Hub--------3750(2)

| |

|--------Hub---------|

I am running etherchannel between the 3750's and its great, the only problem that I have is the case when the link from Hub to 3750(2) goes down, 3750 thinks that the link is up and still forwards traffic to it?

Is there a way that I can detect the remote link going down on 3750?

PS. It should be noted that this is a special hub which does not fwd Mcast traffic. So i guess UDLD is out of scope here!

Thanks

Alan

Alan,

is this a test setup or live?? why do you want to use hubs inbetween switches, and why do u need etherchannels in 3750? you have the stacking cable, which can give you 32 Gbps throughput, when compared with a 2/3/4 Gbps throughput with etherchannels.. One solution to the above issue though is to have layer 3 trunks instead of layer 2, but take care of your setup here !!!

Hope this helps.. all the best..
