I hope I am in the right forum. I just upgraded the IOS on my 2960 and need to downgrade back to a older IOS images. I did a overwrite when I did the upgrade "archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp://tftp_server_ip/file_name". Does anyone know how to downgrade the IOS?

Thank you in advance for any help.

It should be no different than the upgrade procedure. double check any boot statements that might have an image name in them...

sounds like you need to go back to cco, and pull the older image down. then load it back on the device.

Before you performed the upgrade did you save the image files (perhaps to a TFTP server or something)? If you have a copy of the old image files then you could do an "upgrade" to the old image.

Or do you have another 2960 running the old image?

Or does your CCO account include the ability to download code?

Just so I am clear,  I can run the same command "archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp://tftp_server_ip/file_name" with the older version IOS and that's it? No problems due to downgrading IOS image?

Thanks

should work. you did the smart thing  by keeping copies of both images on your tftp server.

This worked thanks for the help everyone.
