2. Hold Down the Mode Button on the front of the switch
3. Power up the Switch whilst keeping the mode button held in
4. wait to display 'USB Console INIT' on console and release mode button

no, the procedure is as described.
you need physical access to the switch to power down/up and activate the button
you need physical access anyhow to access the serial console port ?

while switch is rebooting, we can break the rebooting process right, to avoid the switch booting from flash
