My 2960 + switch missing a flash: drive

I think Someone put a S1(config)#format flash: in global config mode.

If I go to rommon mode and do a Switch: format flash: will it recover the flash drive?flash: drive missing, LAN Switching

I am still not in the ROMMON mode so fsck is not running yet.

Should I go to ROMMON? I will lose all current connection and IOS that is running.
I need a confirmation to do so before power cycle it...
fsck flash: or maybe format flash:
and then maybe init_flash:
and then do the xmodem to upload the IOS... the recovery stuff.
I am just afraid ROMMON will not come up...

Dont think so.  If you have access to the switch in rommon mode, you´re going to need to transfer another IOS and boot the switch from this new IOS.

I will go to ROMMON mode if this fix my flash: drive missing problem.

Sorry. Can anyone could tell me if I should power cycle and go to ROMMON and recover?

I have seen the output to the command "sh version" and "dir".

Reboot the switch and upload the IOS using XModem.

If the same issue re-occurs, the switch flash is kaput.

Thanks.

I just got the switch couple years ago before the pandemic not being use for the last two year. Do you think I could get it fix somehow?

My student told me because the power cut off while it is booting. We went to XModem a new IOS to the flash: the day before. And now the flash: is missing. Not sure if all these are related.

Anyway, Thanks for the help. I will power cycle it and see what happened. Maybe it will work again.

Thanks.
