hi,
I am trying to remove only one port from a APAN session without disabling the whole session but so far unsuccessful!
I even tried permit-list exclude command but it didn't do the trick.
it is a 6500 switch with CAT OS.
Please advise,
Masood

Hello Masood,
when you specify a L2 vlan as the source of a SPAN session you are saying you want to monitor the group of ports that are in that L2 broadcast domain (including both access ports and trunks)
And that is what you get.
If you want to monitor only some ports that are a subset of L2 Vlan you should use those ports as your source removing the vlan source.
This should be true either with CatOS either with Native IOS.
Hope to help

so, the only way is to disable/delete the SPAn session, removed that port from the SPAN and from the specific vlan and then, create a new SPAN session with tat port not defined under it and not defined under that soecifc vlan!?
correct?

Masood

Hello Masood,
what you suggested is a possible way to achieve what you are looking for.
the other way is to specify ports as sources of the new SPAN session
Hope to help

well, i don't see how the second option works for me as I am only trying to exclude one port which is on the same source vlan from the SPAN session.
